Cindy Samuelsen began her career in healthcare as a medical technologist (MT(ASCP)) working at major hospitals in Dallas in the hematology labs. She has a BS in medical technology from Baylor University and an MS in medical technology education from Texas Christian University.
She joined Texas Oncology as the director of laboratory services as the company was expanding. There she was responsible for operations and regulatory compliance of 80+ highly complex laboratories in oncology clinics and cancer centers throughout the country, and initiated compliance to CLIA and OSHA regulations at all laboratory sites.
In 2002, Cindy joined the Baylor Institute for Immunology Research as research administrative director. There she managed the operation and finances for a translational immunology research institute; managed grants (NIH, research foundations and industry), subcontracts and other awards for principal investigators; assisted with grant applications, annual reports and regulatory compliance including IRB and IACUC; planned meetings including annual scientific symposia per year; managed recruiting, payroll and human resources issues including immigration; and oversaw capital and supply purchasing as well as well as facility issues and space planning.
In 2016, Cindy joined the Center for BrainHealth as assistant director for research sponsored projects. She assists members with grant applications, manages contracts and subawards with outside entities, assists with research regulatory issues, and oversees financial management of awards and research budgets.
