Students must constantly update their learning and thinking skills when changing from elementary to middle and high school, or prepare for standardized testing and college entrance exams. Too often, rote memorization and replication are the study skills of choice over comprehension and depth of understanding, leaving learning to suffer. Our two-week camp teaches the same cognitive processes that support deeper-level thinking, focus, and meaningful learning as our Teen Training.

The program enables students to analyze, focus and engage in learning on a more meaningful level while exercising their brains and expanding their creativity. Our SMART Camp guides students to become “neuroengineers of their own brains”. Students learn to take ownership of their brain performance inspired by curiosity that drives innovation and gives them tools to grow in the classroom and beyond.

WHAT IS THE PROGRAM?

SMART Camp* is an intensive SMART (Strategic Memory Advanced Reasoning Training) opportunity enhanced with activities to reinforce the training. SMART provides training in a series of brain processes that can be applied to any context. More than a decade of clinical trials has demonstrated that the approaches taught in this program strengthen the brain’s frontal networks – regions that support attention, planning, judgment and emotional management.

Students entering grades 6-10.

50 hours of training total: 5 hours per day for 10 consecutive days during the summer

*Specific outcomes of the training are not guaranteed. Different individuals may use the tools in different ways. Maximum brain change results from the completion of all steps in the SMART program and continual adoption of brain strategies. In order to fully benefit from the SMART program, participants should complete all session in succession.

SMART has been shown to enhance frontal lobe networks, the core problem-solving and judgment center of the brain.

Study findings indicate positive changes in working memory, inhibition and gist reasoning as well as retention of details.

SMART has been associated with improvements in standardized test outcomes and academic performance.
