Curiosity Conquers Fear

Dr. Sandi Chapman

Dear friends,Over the past several weeks, amid all the worries and concerns we are all facing I have been inspired and delighted to hear so many stories about people tuning in to their brain health – and their loved ones. I hope you are starting to put some of the tips and strategies into practice. I would love to hear back from you how you have found them meaningful and applicable to your own lives. My team at the Center for BrainHealth remains laser-focused on advancing the science of brain health every day – and translating those discoveries into actions that people of all ages and walks of life can take to reap the benefits of brains that are stronger, perform better, last longer. You might be surprised to know that there are not that many of us dedicating our careers to exploring and expanding the brain’s upward potential – something I hope will change in time as the brain’s vast capacity becomes more widely understood.Today I want to introduce one of my collaborators on The BrainHealth Project – a group of the world’s leading brain scientists dedicated to improving brain health for all. His name is Judson Brewer, MD, PhD. “Dr. Jud,” as he likes to be called, is a gifted psychiatrist and neuroscientist. As director of research and innovation with the Mindfulness Center at Brown University’s School of Public Health, his research is vastly expanding our knowledge about the neural mechanisms of mindfulness and cravings. He has created a timely video series to address issues related to Coronavirus Anxiety. I particularly like this one, in which he describes a brain hack that is particularly useful and relevant during this time of uncertainty: Curiosity conquers fear.I hope you enjoy it and share it with your community. As always, I am thrilled to know you are a proactive a member of our dynamic BrainHealth community.
